Selecting Security Preferences for Adobe® Reader®

If your company is set up to view documents in the Portable Document Format (PDF), you must have the Adobe Reader software installed on your computer. Adobe Reader may store previously viewed PDF images in the temporary internet files folder.

The instructions below are provided for Adobe Reader Version 9.0 to prevent images from being stored on your computer. If you use a different version of Adobe Reader and/or Microsoft Internet Explorer, the path to access the settings recommended may vary. Explore the options available to you and select the settings that correspond to the recommendation.

Preventing PDF Images from Being Stored Locally by Adobe Reader 9.0 Software

  1. From an Adobe Reader window, select Edit ~ Preferences ~ Page Display.

  2. In the Rendering section, clear the Use Page Cache check box.

  3. Click OK.

Verifying an Additional Security Setting in Microsoft® Internet Explorer® When Using Adobe Reader

  1. From a Microsoft Internet Explorer window, select Tools ~ Internet Options~ Advanced ~ Settings.

  2. In the Security section, select the Do not save encrypted pages to disk check box.

  3. Click OK.
